Get Out and Shoot Something by Leigh Blenkhorn

On Wednesday, May 5, 2010, James Schmitz (a.k.a. Viking Dad) was interviewed on the CBC Radio 1 program Ontario Morning.  When he's not slaughtering villages, James also draws editorial cartoons for the local newspaper.  Some of his cartoons drew ire from local shopkeepers, so CBC wanted to get to the bottom of it.  So did Viking Dad.

Last Saturday's Viking Dad Premiere Party was a great success.  We had a great turnout, had a lot of laughs, and best of all, we raised lots of food for the local food drive.  What could be better?

Good news!

The newest VideoYEAH film, The Invisible Car, will be shown as part of the short film showcase at the 2009 Barrie Film Festival!

Those of you in the Barrie area should come on by to the screening at 6:30PM on Saturday, October 17.  Tickets are only $9, and you get so see 16 other shorts in addition to The Invisible Car.  There's prizes in several categories, including People's Choice, so don't forget to vote!

Some of the VideoYEAH crew will be headed to Sudbury this week to attend the Cinéfes Sudbury Film Festival.  It'll be a week of movies, movies, (parties) movies!

Not content to merely watch the movies, we've decided to record our sixty-second long reviews over at cinefest60.com.  We'll update as often as possible (internet connectivity permitting).

This is a bit of an experiment for us, so bare with us during this pilot project!

After a year of planning, Viking Dad is now in full production!  You can see the teaser trailer starting today.

Viking Dad is a new web series that follows the adventures of a normal, small-town family living with thier not-so-normal patriarch with the help of a certain antiquarian.

Many of the videos on VideoYEAH.com are hosting by the video site Revver.  Over the past few days, Revver has been out of action for some reason, rendering many of our videos unwatchable.  It is not knows at present wether this is a temporary problem or something bigger, so we ask you to bare with us.

Filming for Viking Dad begins today.  Watch out!

Down in the lower, right-hand portion of the main page of VideoYEAH.com lies the lowly Random Thought space.  Proudly displayed beneath the PhotoYEAH box and the Google ads, Random Thoughts is the place reserved for some of the small snippets of wisdom and observations sqeezed out of the brains of the VY cast and crew.

That is, until now!

We now invite YOU, the VY viewer, to submit your own Random Thoughts!  Got a favourite gem of advice or a unique observation on the human experience?  Let 'er rip!

You can submit your random thoughts by commenting to this blog post (note: you must be registered to add comments.  It only takes a moment!), or by emailing contact@videoyeah.com.

Submissions will be screened for appropriateness and Googled for originality.  If it passes muster, it'll go in the Random Thoughts cache to be displayed...randomly.  Impress your family and friends by hitting the "refresh" button over and over again until your thought pops up!  Or just tell them what you wrote.  Either way, they'll be impressed!

Katherine Wooton, a good friend of videoYEAH.com (and one of the stars of The Six Word Plays) has launched a new website over at k8films.com.

There you can learn a little bit about the film maker as well as see photos and out-takes from her 2007 short film Clark Gable (edited by yours-truly).  The finished film will be available soon.  videoYEAH will let you know when it's up!

The Bowels of Hell is finally up (after some Revver wrangling).  This one was a hell of a lot of fun to make.  We hope you enjoy it.

The Bowels of Hell is finished!  I'm just trudging through some technical issues at the moment trying to output it, but the cut itself is done.  Check back soon!

The Bowels of Hell has got it's 1st cut finished.  It looks fantastic!  I think people are going to want to see more.  Frankly, after the awesome time we had filming this last night, I'd be happy to give them more!

We've finished filming most of what we're currently calling, "The Bowels of Hell."  We got some great shots, I got some leaf-related friction burn on my belly.  Bet came in with some home-made hot chocolate for our cold shoot.  We love her long time.

The response to the new website has been great.  You guys are amazing! 

Yesterday for a short time, the VY montage was the "#2 most linked to" video on YouTube Canada.  Way to pimp that video!

We're going to try to get some new videos up for you soon.  (You may have noticed some sneak peaks in the montage, if you're observant).

Since 2005, ChubbyProductions.com had been our home on the World Wide Web.  It was a slightly crude sandbox to play in, but it was where we cut our teeth and matured.   We had a hell of a good time making the videos, but it became clear to us that it was time to grow up and put on the long pants.

Welcome to our new home, VideoYeah.com!

Aside from a fresh new look and a cool new interface, you'll still be able to see all of our Chubby films as well as all the new stuff we'll be putting together in the coming months and years.  You'll be able to read all about our goings-on right here in the VideoYeah blogs as well as be able to comment on any of the movies you see on our site.
